ProxiSuite turns public data into a working territory. Here is exactly what feeds it and how each source is used.
What it is. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services publish hospital and provider quality measures, including Complications and Deaths and Healthcare-Associated Infections.
How ProxiSuite uses it. Feeds the Clinical lens and the Clinical ProxiScore, using CMS’s own national comparisons, shown as reported.
What it is. Public financial and certification filings, including operating margin, total margin and certified bed counts.
How ProxiSuite uses it. Feed the Financial and Size lenses. Certified bed counts are used exactly as filed. CMS Hospital General Information does not publish beds at all, so those fall back to the Provider of Services certified count and then to HIFLD, below. Nothing is ever interpolated: where no source carries a bed count, the facility shows none.
What it is. Homeland Infrastructure Foundation-Level Data, a public national hospital layer originally published by the Department of Homeland Security. The official HIFLD Open portal was deactivated in August 2025, so this reads a stable public mirror of the same layer hosted by NASA.
How ProxiSuite uses it. Last-resort bed counts only, and only for hospitals where CMS publishes none and the Provider of Services file has none either. HIFLD carries no CCN, so each hospital is matched on normalised name plus ZIP with a name and city fallback, only exact and strong matches are kept, and every match carries its confidence. It is older and third-party rather than certified, it never overrides a CMS or Provider of Services figure, and the source of each bed count travels with it.
What it is. A public transparency database of payments from manufacturers to providers and teaching hospitals.
How ProxiSuite uses it. Powers the Payments lens and the who-pays panel. Records are shown exactly as reported. A payment is not evidence of wrongdoing.
What it is. The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality publishes the Patient Safety Indicators (PSI), a standardized set of measures for in-hospital complications and adverse events.
How ProxiSuite uses it. Defines the patient-safety measures in the Clinical report and Clinical ProxiScore, applied to each facility's own reported CMS figures and shown as reported.
What it is. Public demographic and population estimates by geography.
How ProxiSuite uses it. Feeds the Community and Market lenses and area context.
What it is. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention publish PLACES, model-based estimates of chronic-disease and health-risk prevalence at small-area (ZCTA) grain.
How ProxiSuite uses it. Feeds a community-health sub-index inside the Community lens, shown as modeled estimates, not counts.
What it is. Health Resources and Services Administration data on Health Professional Shortage Areas.
How ProxiSuite uses it. Feeds the Shortage lens at county grain.
What it is. US Department of Education datasets on institutions, enrollment, completion, and outcomes.
How ProxiSuite uses it. Feed the ProxiSchool lines and the Outcomes lens.
What it is. A free API from the Urban Institute that republishes federal education data, including the NCES files below, in one place you can actually query.
How ProxiSuite uses it. It is the pipe every ProxiSchool read goes through, for both K-12 and colleges. The data underneath is federal. The delivery is theirs. If their API is down, ProxiSchool says so rather than showing you a number it guessed.
What it is. The Department of Education’s annual census of every public school and district in the country.
How ProxiSuite uses it. Feeds the ProxiSchool Schools line: enrollment, grade span, locale and the district each school rolls up to. Read through the Urban Institute portal above, not scraped.
What it is. The federal government’s public record of contract, grant and other award spending.
How ProxiSuite uses it. Feeds the Awards lens, resolved to accounts through ProxiMatch and badged with the confidence of that match. Award dollars are what was obligated to an organisation, not what it is worth to you.
What it is. The National Plan and Provider Enumeration System, the public NPI registry.
How ProxiSuite uses it. Provides provider identity and NPI lookup. Names are public registry data used as account context, not a people directory.
What it is. The US Food and Drug Administration’s public device datasets: Product Classification, Registration and Listing, Recalls and Enforcement, and 510(k) clearances.
How ProxiSuite uses it. Powers Industry Focus: the national manufacturer and brand list, plus recall and clearance signals shown as reported. This is establishment and regulatory data, not a ProxiSuite assessment of any product’s quality.
What it is. An open, community-built map of the world, licensed under the Open Database License.
How ProxiSuite uses it. Provides base map tiles. Map data is © OpenStreetMap contributors.
What it is. A commercial geospatial service for routing, drive-time, and isochrones.
How ProxiSuite uses it. Provides real drive-distance and routing behind the proximity engine, used under Geoapify’s terms.
This table is read from the running product, not typed into the page. If a source has not been synced, it says so rather than showing a date somebody remembered.

These sources are public and, for the federal ones, effectively in the public domain, but they can contain errors, gaps, or lag, and ProxiSuite does not independently verify them.
